School has started! Haha not for me but for most people I guess, and even though we don't have school yet you can kind of sense it in the air and see it when you take the bus, walk around and stuff. Its kind of surreal after one month plus of holidays, going out all the time and seeing everyone else your age also doing their own thing, that now there's a general mood shift from the 'holiday' break and everyone is laden down with the uniforms, books, ccas and all. Life goes on year after year ):
This is kind of stupid but I was thinking about how I miss school when I woke up today morning. Not as in the studying but more of the atmosphere, going to the bus stop at the crack of dawn, taking 855 with all the 'regular' people and meeting people like pisang and vivian at the bus stop, the FOOD (bread stall orange bowl chicken rice and uncle mobeen!), the chattering and the feeling of all the activities lined up. Even when we were starting a new year with new classmates, at least the environment was friendly.... I'm going to miss the familarity of everything when we have to go to school next month. Eep. Still in a way, I'm glad I decided to work this holiday even though I kind of had to do it alone (since jesminetan got posted to rccc and didnt get any assignments from her in-charge!), it got me used to adapting to new environments (despite not being a school env), more confident about meeting strangers, talking to them. You'll find that most people will try hard to be approachable and amiable because everyone needs someone to be a companion to them, I guess.
Work on new year's eve was an experience :D I've been going to novotel quite a lot recently after more than one week's absence and amazingly people still asked after me and remembered about me. I served food on sunday, it was rather screwed up but at least we had only 3 tables plus Jianyi is so experienced and pro and looked after me well (: Anyway, I got to OT on new year's eve (initially I thought I couldnt since they look like they don't really want tcc girls) and it was rather slack, I barely cleared stuff in the ballroom before they said that I can go to eat, so I just kind of hung out in the kitchen eating noodles with Zhangxuan who was wiping the susan. Then people came too and there was broccoli to eat plus white wine and orange crush! Haha later on I dropped the susan and it smashed but luckily they didnt make a big deal out of it. And I was basically uninjured except for a small bruise on my toe. THE MAIN POINT is that a little after 12 (somehow we just didnt count down together though everyone was at the table), fireworks started exploding near clarke quay so we all rushed out to the balcony and near the roof there to see! It was rather spectacular cos the view was so great, plus you can see all the lights from the buildings and the partying crowd (singing auld lang syne) making so much noise :D
Today was good (: I miss us just going to ahma's house to hang out, hurr. Before we met at amk I went to school with mingee and hh cos she wanted to collect her dvd from graduation night, and we were just walking around in tshirt shorts and slippers. I think recess time changed today though! Nobody was in the canteen except for quite alot of other yellow badges, we all like to eat school food : DD Saw some teachers but didn't get to say hi, like miss quek and luo lao shi in the staff room. Miss quek will be having a new class again! I hope she'll be telling them about purity and telling them to be more like us. (in a nice way!) Hahah like what she did on our very first day too. Didn't eat at school even though I miss the food badly, we just went to hub to eat, then took the bus. Watched L and tv and did random stuff, then we did a very-belated gift exchange. Took home alot of stuff actually! It was a simple gathering, but I'm content. I just wish things get to stay like this for a little while more and that the changes won't take us up by storm so fast. Change isnt necessarily bad, but its scary despite its capacity to introduce new places, new experiences and people to us. Hopefully things will find a way to work themselves out smoothly. That's what I've always kind of believed, and so far life has been treating me fairly well I guess (:
Long post! Idk. Working at Dimjoy in Tanjong Pagar tomorrow, its a rather interesting dimsum place that serves dimsum day and night, the people there are friendly and quite nice though I've only been there two days. At least it is less intimidating because the trays you have to carry are smaller, the place is smaller, there are less staff so you can know everybody from the other waiters to the chefs to the nice dishwasher :D
